So you want to buy a home - a place of your own - an investment in the American Dream of home ownership. You are probably excited, scared, and nervous at the prospect of owning your own home. No doubt you have heard "horror stories" by uninformed first-time homebuyers. We encourage all potential home owners to take this informative homebuyer education class early in the home buying process.

SETH has the answer to your "first-time homebuyer jitters". Attend our Homebuyer Education Class taught at our conveniently located offices at 11111 South Sam Houston Parkway East in southeast Houston.

In this informal classroom setting, the knowledgeable instructor will explain the sometimes confusing mortgage and real estate terms. The instructor will give you the tools to budget for your new home based on your disposable income and will discuss credit and loan issues. Utilizing the services of a licensed real estate professional will be outlined. Included in their interactive discussions will be the earnest money contract, loan process, and home maintenance.

To utilize the MCC Bond or Down Payment Assistance Programs provided by SETH the potential homebuyer must attend a Homebuyer Education Class.

Classes are taught at SETH's offices located at 11111 South Sam Houston Parkway East (Beltway 8 @ Beamer exit) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a lunch break.

Payment is in the form of a money order or cashier's check made payable to Southeast Texas HFC.

Instructor

Polk Curtiss has been certified by NeighborWorks-America and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs as a Comprehensive Housing Counselor and Homebuyer Education Instructor since 1995. He has 25 + years of experience in the housing industry as well as multiple aspects of community and economic development. His classes are interactive as well as informative.

Mr. Curtiss will personally demonstrate the road to home ownership is the fastest way to build family wealth. He will walk the potential new homeowner through the home buying process.

After completion of this eight-hour course recently approved by TDHCA, the potential new homeowner will have the tools necessary to maintain home ownership for life.
